The term Ju-Jitsu consists of the two separate japanese words of Ju (Jiu), which is translated us “gentle, soft or flexible” and Jitsu (jitsu), which is translated as “art or technique”. The meaning of the Ju Jitsu as a “Gentle Art” is based on the principle of exploiting the power of the opponent and use it against him through softness rather than the use of brute force.

Today Ju-Jujitsu refers to all martial arts developed in Japan from the 12th century until the end of the 19th, that include Striking techniques, throwing and wrestling, immobilizations/dislocations and ground fighting.

It is a complete martial arts system, including techniques in all areas and levels of combat, emphasizing both in the development of sound technical infrastructure, and the improvement of physical fitness.

Training in Ju-Jitsu at Martial Arts Foundation is done in cooperation with the international organisation of Seishinkai Ju Jitsu International.
